Tabula Rasa Immigration Services-Its Meaning
The name Tabula Rasa sums up our philosophy of helping people to get a second chance at starting afresh. “Tabula Rasa”; is a Latin-based term that means “blank slate.”; It is a philosophical thought that people are born without any pregiven mental content, and knowledge is only acquired by experience. To our clients, Canada represents a new chapter – a clean slate. When our company’s founder Taihisa Hill-Guye first envisioned the business, an image of a maple leaf etched into a slate symbolized new beginnings for her in Canada. Having first-hand experience with the Canadian immigration process, Taihisa and the Tabula Rasa Immigration Services team are here to help those with the desire to create a new life away from the burdens of the past and toward hope in the future.

Meet Taihisa Hill-Guye
Managing Director
Taihisa Hill-Guye is the owner and founder of Tabula Rasa Immigration Services. She is a versatile professional; her academic and professional backgrounds are highly accomplished. She is a graduate in Geology from Southern Connecticut State University and Master’s in Geographic Information Systems GIS from North Carolina University.
However, before entering the field of immigration consulting, Taihisa co-founded the consultancy GeoGIS through which she worked with international organizations including the World Bank, UN, and FAO. Upon relocating to Canada, she further expanded her skill set with a license as a financial and investment advisor. It was her own immigration that inspired a desire to pursue an immigration consultant diploma and resulted in licensure as a licenses RCIC professional.
Currently, Taihisa is pursuing a Ph.D. in Geography from Carleton University, with her research interests revolving around immigrant settlement patterns and their relationship with wealth accumulation. Her academic and professional path shows not only dedication but also a deep commitment to helping others sail through the complexities of immigration. Outside of consulting, Taihisa is a co-founder of two nonprofit organizations: BA-RCIC and The Lupus Foundation of Dominica. An entrepreneur at heart, Taihisa leads three other startups pertaining to inclusivity in community building.
